A few to start with
Explore by neighborhood
A directory that keeps growing
Coffee shops, roasters, pop-ups, carts, and places poured around boba or matcha. The list is not a fixed count. A place shows up here after a suggestion is accepted.
Where they actually are
Pick a café in the list to jump to its pin, or pick a pin to find it in the list. Neighborhood chips show or hide each part of town.
An independent guide to Columbus coffee
Columbus on Coffee is an independent, in-depth guide to the coffee shops of Columbus, Ohio — profiling the roasteries, bakery-cafés, and neighborhood counters that are worth seeking out, organized by neighborhood so it's easy to find what's nearby or plan a proper crawl.
Who runs Columbus on Coffee?
Columbus on Coffee is run by Brian M., a coffee enthusiast in Columbus, Ohio.
What's here
Independent and locally rooted stops across Columbus-area neighborhoods, from Dublin and Westerville in the north to German Village, Grove City, and Delaware. Coffee shops, roasters, pop-ups, carts, and places poured around boba or matcha. The list is not a fixed count — people submit places as they use the guide, and accepted ones are added. Each entry includes a neighborhood, address, typical hours, and a short, honest description of what makes the place worth a stop, written from publicly available information and from notes people send in, not from a press release.
What's not here
National chains, mostly. A few multi-location Columbus-born names (Stauf's, Fox in the Snow, Crimson Cup) show up more than once because they've genuinely earned a presence in several neighborhoods — but the drive-thru energy-drink stands and the coffee counters inside big-box stores were left off on purpose.
A note on accuracy
Hours, prices, and details change. This is a snapshot, not a live feed — always worth a quick check before you make the trip, especially for the smaller, owner-run shops that keep unusual or weekend-only hours.
Questions
Accounts, Submit versus Feedback, standing, marks, patrons, and shop claims are collected on the FAQ.
For café openings and crawls beyond this snapshot, Follow along lists outside Instagram, TikTok, and reference sites this guide trusts for updates — not partners.
Legal
Columbus on Coffee is a personal project run by Brian M. It can later be continued by a company, a business, or another organization. The rules for that, for tips, and for what the guide promises are on the legal page.
This site is free, ad-free, and independently run.
Optional. Venmo @brianqzmiller is a personal account. A tip helps cover out-of-pocket hosting and build costs while this is still a personal project. It is not a purchase, not a charity donation, and not required to use the guide. The legal page says what that money is and what it is not.
Order notes from the guide.
Patrons who pledge on Venmo get a code for these order notes. Enter it below.
Notes go through your account.
Wrong hours, closed cafés, and “you should add ___” used to be a loose email form. They now sit with Submit and Sign in: sign in, then send the note from Feedback. It is saved with that account instead of opening a mail app.
FAQ
Practical answers. The About page is the story of the guide. This page is how the pieces work.
What is Columbus on Coffee?
An independent guide to cafés, roasters, pop-ups, carts, and boba and matcha stops in the Columbus area. It is organized by neighborhood so you can walk a crawl or find the counter nearest you. It is not affiliated with any shop listed.
Who runs it?
Brian M., a coffee enthusiast in Columbus, Ohio.
Do I need an account?
Browsing is free. Home, the directory, the map, café pages, stories, About, this FAQ, and Flappy Brew never ask you to sign in.
An account is required to submit a shop, send feedback, post a review, upload a photo, suggest a correction, claim a shop, or earn standing and marks. That keeps anonymous notes off the guide.
Where does my account live?
In this copy of the site, the account stays in your browser. A password is stored as a hash, not as plain text. Closing the browser does not delete it, but another device will not see it. A public launch needs a real server before accounts can follow you, and before the site can actually turn bots away.
Do accounts sync to a server yet?
No. Accounts, shop claims, reviews, and photos still live only in this browser. There is no public server login, OAuth, or cloud sync yet. A hosted server is the next step when the site is ready to leave this local copy — until then, treat contributor data as local-only.
What is the difference between Submit and Feedback?
Submit is a structured suggestion for a café or roaster that is missing: name, neighborhood, address, and what to know. It stays pending until an editor reviews it. Once published, it joins the directory and you'll see “Approved” on your Submit page.
Feedback is a note: a wrong hour, a closure, a typo, or a “you should look at this.” It is saved with your account and does not add points. A café you want listed as its own entry still goes through Submit.
Why isn’t my suggestion in the directory?
Suggestions wait. Nothing on this page is added to the public list by the person who typed it. Standing points for a new café (20) or a new roaster (20) apply only after the listing is actually accepted.
How does standing work?
Points add up to a standing: Drop-in, Regular, Neighborhood, then City desk. Reviews, photos, corrections, and likes score right away. A new shop or roaster scores 20 points when an editor publishes it.
- 20 — a missing café is accepted into the directory
- 20 — a roaster listing is accepted
- 8 — review a café
- 12 — review a roaster
- 6 — add a photo to a shop
- 2 — suggest a correction
- 2 — someone likes your photo, returned if they undo it
What are marks?
Marks are stamps on your signed-in profile. They turn on by themselves.
- Filed a tip — you suggested a café or roaster
- Three writeups — three reviews
- Photo set — two photos
- Ten reviews
- Four neighborhoods — contributions in four parts of Columbus
Can I be listed as a contributor?
Yes, if you choose it. After you submit a café or earn a mark, open your account — or the Submit page — and turn on “Feature me at the bottom of the site.” The footer then shows your display name, your standing, and the marks you have unlocked. Your email stays off that line. Turn the option off and the card comes down. On this copy of the site, the row is the people who opted in inside this browser.
What do patrons get?
The order notes on the About page are locked. People who support the guide on Venmo can be given a code. The code unlocks those notes in the browser. It does not sign you in, and it does not let you edit the directory.
How do I claim a shop?
Open the café and choose Claim this shop while signed in. The claim stays pending. Editing hours, the description, and contact info waits until the claim is verified. An editor verifies the claim, usually after a message from the shop's own Instagram or email. Once it's verified, the owner's edits show on the listing right away.
Are boba, matcha, pop-ups, and carts included?
Yes. The directory filters include Boba, Matcha, Pop-up, and Coffee cart. Search also matches those words when they are on a shop’s tags.
How current are the hours?
Hours are a snapshot. Pop-ups and small counters change them often. Check the shop before you go, and send a correction from Feedback if a listing is wrong.
Is the guide affiliated with these cafés?
No. Names are used so you can find the right door. A claim, once verified, is how an owner can correct their own listing. Until then the write-up is the guide’s, not the shop’s.
Is this a business or a nonprofit?
Today it is neither. Columbus on Coffee is a personal project run by Brian M. Support sent on Venmo is a voluntary payment to that person. It is not a charitable donation and it does not buy a share of the guide. If a company, a business, or another organization later runs the guide, the legal page is where that operator will be named.
How can I support it?
The site is free and has no ads. Venmo @brianqzmiller is on the About page if you want to chip in for hosting. It is optional.
How does “Open now” know?
It reads each listing's posted hours and compares them with the current time in Columbus (Eastern time), including late nights that run past midnight. A yellow “Closing soon” badge means less than 45 minutes left. Hours change, and pop-ups move around, so check the shop's Instagram before a long drive. Directory filters also include Early (by 6:30), Evenings (7pm+), and Open Sundays. If a listing is wrong, use “Hours look wrong?” on its page.
How do I plan a coffee crawl?
Tap ♡ Save on the cafés you want, then open the Saved filter in the directory. The guide puts them in a sensible order and opens the route in Google Maps for walking, biking, or driving. “Share this list” sends a friend a link that opens the same cafés, and they can save them all in one tap. Searches share the same way: the address bar keeps your search, so you can copy it. Each neighborhood page also has a “Walk it” route through every café in that neighborhood.
Where do the photos come from?
From the shops themselves wherever possible: their Instagram, Facebook, or website, used with permission and credited with a link to the original post. A few are openly licensed photos credited to the photographer. Owners can add a photo from “Claim this shop.” Visitors can post their own shots in the Photos section of a listing, but only photos they took.
Can I use it like an app?
Yes. On iPhone, open the site in Safari, tap Share, then “Add to Home Screen.” On Android, use Chrome's menu and “Install app” or “Add to Home screen.” It opens full screen, and pages you've visited still load without a connection.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Open your account, then “Your data.” You can download what you've added or delete the account along with your reviews, photos, corrections, feedback, and pending suggestions.
What is the coffee passport?
Tap “Been here?” on any café you've visited. The home page tracks how many you've tried and which neighborhoods you've finished. In the directory and on the map, “Not tried yet” shows only the places you haven't been. It doesn't need an account, and it stays in this browser.
How do I move my saved list and passport to my phone?
On the home page, tap “Move to another device” under your passport. That copies a link. Open it on your other phone or computer, and your saved cafés and passport stamps are added there. Nothing on the other device is removed. The link lists only café names, so anyone you send it to sees the same list. “Download my lists” saves the same data as a JSON file on your device.
Does Directions open Google Maps or Apple Maps?
On iPhone and iPad it opens Apple Maps. Everywhere else it opens Google Maps. Multi-stop coffee crawls still use Google Maps, because that planner handles a walking route with several stops.
What is Café of the day?
A single café highlighted on the home page for the current Columbus calendar day. It's the same pick for everyone that day, so you and a friend see the same suggestion. It prefers higher-rated shops and changes overnight Eastern time.
Are there keyboard shortcuts?
Press / from almost any page to jump to search (directory or map). Press Esc to close the quick view, the account window, or the phone menu. On a café card, Enter opens the listing, and the small ▢ opens a quick look without leaving the list.
The colors are hard to read. Can I change them?
Yes. At the bottom of any page, pick Light or Dark, and tap “High contrast” for deeper reds and teals behind the light text. If your phone or computer is already set to increase contrast, the guide turns it on by itself. The whole site works with a keyboard, and every map pin is also in the list that comes with the map.
Can I take down one review or photo, or report someone else's?
Your own posts have a Delete link on the café page. The points they earned come back off your total. On anyone else's post, signed-in readers see Report. Reports go to the editors, who can remove the post.

Send a note
Same gate as Submit. Browsing stays free. Sign in to leave a correction, a suggestion, or a café the directory is missing. The note is stored with your account in this browser.
Flappy Brew
Guide the cup between the cup towers. Tap, click, or hit space to flap. Don't spill.
Submit a shop
Browsing is free and open. An account is required to submit shops, post reviews, upload photos, or earn points and levels — so bots and drive-by spam don't land in the guide unread.
Standing
Helping the guide earns points, and the total is your standing: Drop-in, then Regular, Neighborhood, and City desk. A new café or roaster only scores once it is actually added. Suggestions stay pending until an editor publishes them. Reviews, photos, corrections, and likes score right away.
| Pts | What counts |
|---|---|
| 20 | A missing café is accepted into the directory |
| 20 | A roaster listing is accepted |
| 8 | Review a café |
| 12 | Review a roaster |
| 6 | Add a photo to a shop |
| 2 | Suggest a correction to a listing |
| 2 | Someone likes your photo — taken back if they undo it |
Marks
Marks are small stamps on your profile. They switch on by themselves when you pass the mark. This guide only covers Columbus, so the stamps are about shops, writeups, and neighborhoods here.
- Filed a tip — suggested a café or roaster
- Three writeups — three reviews
- Photo set — two photos
- Ten reviews
- Four neighborhoods — contributed in four parts of the city
Once you have submitted a café or earned a mark, your account has a switch: feature me at the bottom of the site. It lists your display name, standing, and unlocked marks. It stays off until you turn it on.
Browser accounts are a local demo gate — they do not stop real internet bots. A public launch needs a real server.
Editor desk
Review shop suggestions, verify shop claims, work through feedback and corrections, and export the guide's data. On this static copy, everything here lives in this browser, and the editor check runs in the page, so it is a workflow preview, not real security.
Legal
Effective October 26, 2026. These terms are the rules for using Columbus on Coffee.
These are the rules for using Columbus on Coffee. Reading the guide, using the map, creating an account, sending a note, or sending money means you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.
Who operates this today
Columbus on Coffee is a personal project operated by Brian M., a private individual in Columbus, Ohio. Today the operator is that person, not a corporation, a limited liability company, a partnership, a nonprofit, or a registered charity. This website is not a filing with the Ohio Secretary of State or the IRS, and it does not create a company by itself. “Operator,” “we,” and “the guide” mean Brian M. and this personal project until this page names a different operator.
If a company or organization takes it over
The project is built so it can later become a true guide run by a company, a business, a nonprofit, or another organization. Brian M. may assign the name, the site, the directory, the stories, submitted material, accounts, and these terms to that successor. The successor becomes the operator only when this page names it and the effective date at the top changes. Until that sentence is posted, no company and no organization is a party to these terms, and no reader should treat one as if it already exists.
A payment you make today does not buy a share, a membership, a board seat, donor status, or a vote in any future entity. It does not require the operator to form a company or a nonprofit. Tax treatment of a future entity will be stated on this page only after that entity exists. Forming one will also mean new documents for that entity. These website terms are not those documents.
What this site is
The guide is an editorial directory of cafés, roasters, pop-ups, carts, and boba and matcha stops in the Columbus area, plus stories, a map, a small game, and optional notes for patrons. It is free to read. It is not a reservation system, a delivery service, a health-inspection record, or an official listing of the City of Columbus. Inclusion, exclusion, order, and wording are editorial choices.
Shops are not partners
The guide is not owned by, sponsored by, or speaking for any café, roaster, landlord, cart, or neighborhood group it mentions. Names, addresses, and descriptions are used so you can find the right door. Trademarks and logos remain the property of their owners. A listing is not a paid placement. Sending money does not buy a listing, a rank, a story, or a kinder description. The operator may add, edit, or remove a listing at any time.
Listings can be wrong
Hours, prices, menus, ownership, allergens, and whether a door is open change without notice. Listings are compiled from public information and from notes people submit. They can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. Check with the shop before you travel. Some listed places serve alcohol; that service, and the laws around it, belong to the shop. If you have an allergy, a dietary need, or an accessibility need, confirm it with the shop. The guide does not provide medical, legal, tax, or financial advice. A rating carried from a public source is not a promise about your visit.
The guide, the map, the stories, the order notes, the points and marks, and the game are provided as-is and as-available. To the extent the law allows, there is no warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or uninterrupted access.
Your trip is yours
You decide whether to go, what to order, and how to get there. You accept the risk of a closed door, a changed menu, a wrong hour, or a description that no longer matches the room.
Accounts on this copy
The operator’s record mailbox is brianqzmiller@gmail.com. This copy of the site does not send accounts, reviews, photos, suggestions, or feedback to that mailbox or to any server. Sign-in stores the account in your browser. A password is turned into a salted hash on this device. The operator does not receive a copy of that password. A different device will not see the account. Reviews, photos, shop suggestions, claims, feedback, and points saved only in the browser are not a filing system the operator controls, and clearing the browser can erase them. Saved cafés, the cafés you mark “Been here” for your coffee passport, the last few listings you opened (shown on the home page as “Pick up where you left off,” with a Clear link), your theme and contrast choices, and optional “Move to another device” or “Download my lists” exports are also kept only in your browser (or in a file you choose to save) and are not sent to a Columbus on Coffee server. From the account panel you can download what this browser holds under your account, or delete the account and what you added. Do not put passwords, payment card numbers, government ID numbers, or other sensitive personal information into a review, a photo, or a feedback note. A later public version may store accounts on a server. That version will say so on this page, including what is stored and how to ask about it. Shop suggestions, reviews, claims, corrections, and feedback — never passwords — are the records intended for brianqzmiller@gmail.com once that server exists. A weekly traffic summary is intended for the same mailbox. Until then, an editor can download an owner packet from the desk and file it privately. Do not publish that packet.
What you submit
If you submit a shop, a review, a photo, a correction, a claim, or feedback, you are responsible for it. You confirm that you have the right to send it, that it is not knowingly false, that it does not include someone else’s private information, and that it does not infringe someone else’s rights. You keep ownership of what you created. You grant the operator a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, display, reproduce, edit, adapt, and publish that material in the guide. That license may be transferred or sublicensed if the project is later run by a company, a business, or another organization, so a successor can keep the listing without asking again. A pending suggestion is not part of the public directory until it is accepted. The operator may refuse, edit, or remove material at any time.
A shop claim is a request to correct a listing. It does not transfer the listing to you, make you a partner, or make you an employee or agent of the guide. Editing rights, if they are turned on, can be turned off.
The operator may let other people help as editors who review suggestions, claims, and feedback. Editors act at the operator’s discretion and may say no without giving a reason. An editor is a volunteer helper unless a separate written agreement says otherwise. Being an editor does not make someone an employee, a partner, or an agent of the guide, and an editor cannot sign anything or make promises on its behalf. Publishing a listing, or verifying a claim, means the listing passed a basic check. It is not an endorsement of the shop and not a guarantee that its details are right.
If you turn on featuring, the guide may show your display name, standing, and unlocked marks at the bottom of the site. That card means you contributed and chose to be listed. It does not make you staff, and it does not authorize you to speak for the guide. Your email is not part of that line. Turning the option off removes the card. Points, standing, and marks have no cash value. They are not wages. The operator may change or reset them.
Claims that come from your material
If the operator, or a successor named on this page, faces a claim, loss, or reasonable legal cost because of material you submitted, a shop claim you filed, or your misuse of the site, you will cover that cost to the extent the law allows. This is the promise that keeps a personal project from having to answer for someone else’s photo, review, or false listing.
Tips and patron codes
Venmo @brianqzmiller is a personal account. A payment there is a voluntary payment to Brian M., a private person, to help cover out-of-pocket costs of a project that is not yet a business. It is not a purchase of the guide or of any good. It is not a charitable contribution, it is not tax-deductible, and it is not a payment to a company or a nonprofit. Venmo’s own rules apply to that payment. This site cannot reverse it. A patron code, if one is shared with you, unlocks extra reading in the browser. It is a courtesy. It can be changed or retired. Sending money does not obligate the guide to publish a shop, a review, a story, or a code.
The guide’s own material
Original text, the selection and arrangement of the directory, the stories, and the site’s design are owned by the operator, except where a listing, photo, or map tile is credited to someone else. Map tiles are used under the tile provider’s terms and stay attributed on the map. You may share a link. You may quote a short passage with credit. You may not copy the directory or the stories into another product, scrape the guide to build a competing list, or present the guide as your own.
Other services
Venmo, the map-tile provider, and any map or café link you open from a listing are separate services with their own terms. The operator does not run those services and is not responsible for what they do with your information or your payment.
Age
The site is written for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. Do not create an account if you are under 13.
Takedowns
If a listing, photo, or review uses your material in a way you did not allow, or states something false about you or your shop, use Report on that review or photo, or send a note through Feedback while signed in and choose Other. Include the page, what is wrong, and how to reach you. The operator will review good-faith requests and may remove or correct the material. Feedback on this copy is stored in the browser that sends it, so a public launch needs a dedicated contact address, which will be added on this page when it exists.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for lost time, travel, missed hours, closed shops, a wrong order, reliance on a listing, user-submitted content, the game, or loss of data stored only in your browser. To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits. Where a limit is allowed, liability is capped at the amount you paid the operator for the guide in the three months before the claim. If you paid nothing, that cap is zero. Some places do not allow these limits. In those places the limit applies as far as the law permits. This section covers Brian M. personally. Once this page names a successor operator, it covers that successor for the period it operates the guide.
Ohio law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Franklin County, Ohio, unless a law that cannot be waived requires another forum.
If one sentence fails
If a court will not enforce one part of these terms, the rest stay in effect. These terms are the whole agreement about use of the site. The operator may assign them to a successor. You may not assign your account. Waiting to enforce a term is not a waiver of it.
Changes
The operator may update these terms by posting a new version on this page and changing the effective date. Continuing to use the site after that date means you accept the update. A change that names a new company or organization as the operator will say so in plain words on this page.
Contact
Operator: Brian M., Columbus, Ohio. Until a dedicated address is published here, use Feedback and choose Other.
These terms are the rules of this website. They are not a lawyer’s advice to you about your own situation. Before the project is placed in a company or a nonprofit, the operator intends to have a lawyer review that entity’s own documents.
